In this third book of related titles, our hero must face one more hurdle in accepting his nana’s new “family.” Nana’s new husband, Bob, has a granddaughter named Hortense. They were friends last summer-but over the winter she’s changed and the tentative friendship they shared seems a thing of the past. In this charming picture book about growing up, there is also a message about getting along and finding common ground, even when it’s not at all obvious that that common ground will exist! A heartwarming picture book about blended families and overcoming the differences that children face when they mature at different paces.

  1. Summer is hard to plan for . Daughter is attending summer school for July, so day trips only. A nephew is arriving today from overseas for his first trip to Canada. Will be taking him to all sorts of sites of interest to him. Then I want to camp.

  2. Summer starts this year, by heading 9 hours south along highway #11 to Toronto on the July long weekend. I leave about 5:00 a.m. fortified by coffee, drive slowly just in case of a moose for that first hour, and then just inhale all the wonderful scents along the way. On July 2nd, the girls – OK nobody is really that young – are getting together for a girlie luncheon, something we have not done in years!

  3. Since our summer travels to Venice and Croatia are over, the rest of the warm months will be spent on the patio with an iced tea and a book, walking in our river valley and napping in sunbeams!

  4. This summer i will be saying lots of goodbyes and lots of hellos as i leave some family to visit very dear friends. We will hopefully be spending a lot of time walking down long wooded roads and splashing about in row boats and kyacks. At night we’ll take out the old guitar and sing every song ever written complete with crashing harmonies and wrong lyrics. I’ll most surely come back home sun burnt, mosquito eaten and happier than i’ve ever been.

  5. We farm, so summer tends to be pretty busy. If we are lucky we will drive up north for a three-day weekend, other than that we will enjoy Lake Huron as usual!

  6. We are planning on taking a trip to Muskoka and other than that doing some fun day trips with the kids!

  7. We are planning on a trip to Nova Scotia too, but will be driving out so we can take time and tour around the provinces in between!

  8. It has been a crazy year for us, so we are all looking for a quiet summer where we can relax at home (or near to). Can not wait to be able to sit under a tree and catch up with some good books!

  9. Hi Kris, congratulations! Please check your inbox for an e-mail from us!
