  1. 1. Richard says Me & Death is a “Scrooge story”, with a teenaged Ebenezer (does anyone else think “Teenaged Ebenezer” is the perfect band name, or is it just me?)

    2. Richard would rather hang out with Bart Simpson than Sir Galahad, but I have to disagree – it was Sir Galahad, after all, who rocked Castle Anthrax in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

    3. Roncesvalles is the vicinity that serves as backdrop to the story of Me & Death and is a nice neighborhood for riding around on a bike or hanging out at the local independent coffee shop.

(…Richard’s closing question of the interview – “where do bullies begin?” – is a good one; I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone put it quite like that before.)

  2. Thanks for this contest, I’d love to win, but even if I’m not quite so lucky, I’d glad that I heard about this novel. The Christmas Carol is a great novel, albeit one that focuses so entirely on consumerism that it’s a little scary, so I’m really excited to read a novel with this premise as the starting point. Like Richard, I’m completely horrified that someone would actually have the trunk of the car as a child’s bedroom. I do think that people can make the choice to be either good or bad – a helpful person or a bully as Richard mentioned, but I have to admit that sometimes one wonders why more people aren’t messed up given these type of life circumstances.

    1. Me & Death is a c) Scrooge story, which Richard refers to as a Scrooge jr.

    2. Richard would rather hang around with a) Bart Simpson as he is drawn to the anti-heroes of literature, rather than the heroes, like Sir Galahad.

    3. Me & Death is set around c) Roncesvalles Avenue in Toronto, which is in the Parkdale district.

  3. Sounds like a great idea for a book. A Scrooge story starring Bart Simpson, set on Roncesvalles Ave. I’d love to read that. Count me in.

  4. 1. Me & Death is a c) Scrooge story, which Richard refers to as a Scrooge jr.

I was fortunate enough to meet Richard Scrimger when he came to Orangeville to speak. I purchased two of his books (one YA which I gave to my daughter) including Mystical Rose which I read and loved. He is an awesome author.

  6. a) It is a Scrooge story but about a teenager.
    b) He would rather hang out with Bart Simpson because he finds anti-heros interesting.
    c) It takes place Roncesvalles Avenue.

Bullies begin from a place of insecurity. Having power over others makes them feel less afraid. Then they develop a taste for it; it gives them a rush.

  7. Q1. C) Me & Death is a Scrooge story

Q2. A) Richard would rather hang around with Bart Simpson.

Q3. C) Me & Death is set around Roncesvalles Avenue in Toronto
