Canadian Booksellers Association Libris Awards 2013 Shortlist

Canadian Booksellers Association (CBA) and Retail Council of Canada (RCC) have announced the 2013 CBA Libris Awards shortlist. Voted on by members of the Canadian book industry, the CBA Libris Awards honours talented authors whose works were embraced by book-buyers, and the dedicated professionals who ensured those authors’ books connected meaningfully with readers.

Tundra would like to congratulate Susin Nielsen, The Reluctant Journal of Henry K. Larsen has been shortlisted for the CBA Young Reader Award!

Congratulations to the other shortlisted Young Reader Award authors: Kenneth Oppel for Such Wicked Intent and Wallace Edwards for Uncle Wally’s Old Brown Shoe.

TD Canadian Children’s Book Week 2013

The TD Canadian Children’s Book Week 2013 tour runs Saturday, May 4 to Saturday, May 11, 2013. TD Canadian Children’s Book Week is a national event celebrating Canadian children’s books and the importance of reading. Over 25,000 children, teens and adults participate in activities held in every province and territory across the country. Hundreds of schools, public libraries, bookstores, and community centres host events as part of this major literary festival.

The theme of this year’s Book Week is All the Bookshelf’s a Stage: Celebrating the Performing Arts. And more great news! Marthe Jocelyn and daughter Nell Jocelyn have been chosen to illustrate the TD Children’s Book Week promotional materials, which will be distributed to the hundreds of participating venues across Canada.
